Somali’s leader says he appreciates Turkey’s support in time of needs
Speaking alongside Türkiye’s president during a joint appearance in Istanbul, the Somali leader expressed gratitude for the Turkish president’s support and leadership throughout periods of difficulty for Somalia. He emphasized that, particularly amid ongoing threats to the country’s unity and sovereign authority, Somalia has strongly felt the solidarity of Türkiye and its people.
The president noted that his administration is focused on building a capable and effective state while ensuring the protection of Somalia’s borders and sovereign rights. He recalled that Türkiye has previously acted as a mediator between Somalia and Somaliland and has continued to pursue efforts aimed at resolving the matter through peaceful and cooperative means.
According to the Somali leader, Türkiye’s president once again reaffirmed Ankara’s commitment to standing with Somalia and maintaining support going forward. He stressed that this assistance is vital to Somalia’s advancement, as well as to its peace, stability, and recovery from prolonged challenges.
The talks between the two leaders also addressed ways to expand and deepen bilateral relations across a range of fields. The Somali president pointed out that cooperation between the two countries has grown significantly in recent years, particularly in the areas of security and humanitarian support.
He also extended thanks to fellow nations, regional bodies, and international organizations that have demonstrated solidarity with Somalia during this period. In addition, he criticized the posture of Israel’s prime minister, describing his aggressive approach — including actions affecting Somalia — as unacceptable.
